Wootton Wawen Parish Council
Wootton Wawen Parish Council is seeking a Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer to commence in January 2021.
The Clerk ensures correct procedures are followed, advises the Parish Council to ensure that it acts within its powers and manages the day to day functions of the Parish Council. The Clerk’s responsibilities include preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes, dealing with correspondence, liaising with contractors and local government officials, managing of accounts to include keeping of cash book, bank reconciliations, preparing budgets, VAT returns, organising audits and the administration of the Parish Council website. The Clerk is also the Treasurer of the Village Hall Management Committee, a registered charity.
Candidates would ideally have previous experience working as a Parish Clerk or in local government although training is available. The post holder will be expected to undertake the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) qualification if not already held for which training will be provided.
The post is for 60 hours per month to be worked flexibly between the Parish Council office and the Clerk’s home to a schedule to be agreed with the applicant. There will usually be one evening meeting per month for which attendance at the Village Hall will be required, although meetings are currently held via zoom.
The salary will be within the NJC range of SCP 7-12 (£10.44 to £11.53 per hour) dependent upon qualifications and experience.
